The Economic and Social Council

Committee Intro

CSIAMUN’s ECOSOC committee deals with current global problems which include economic growth alongside social fairness and humanitarian issues. The delegates will develop innovative solutions for sustainable development and disparity reduction through collaborative debate and collective work.

Agenda Intro

Agenda A:

Enhancing Workers’ Rights and Social Welfare in the Context of the Gig Economy

The gig economy reconfigured labor all over the world as platform-mediated, flexible work. While it created new opportunities for earning, it subjected workers to misclassification risks, denial of social protection, and algorithmic control. Members will talk about cross-border measures on upholding decent labor standards, strong welfare provisions, and the protection of gig workers’ rights.

Agenda B:

Promoting Globally Secure and Legitimate Use of Cryptocurrencies to Combat Illicit Financial Activities

The topic ‘cryptocurrencies’ have rapidly gained global attention following the recent rise of the number of the currencies and its usages. Nonetheless, due to its boundless functions and decentralized characteristics, numerous crises are occuring such as but not limited to money laundering, phishing scams and terrorist financing has been globally occurring. Under the agenda, the delegates will explore ways to overcome and combat against the illicit financial activities and misuses, simultaneously working on enhancing international cooperation.

HEAD CHAIR – Soomin Lee

Greetings, Delegates!

It is my utmost honor to welcome you all to the CSIAMUN XVIII. I am Soomin Lee, and it is my privilege to serve as your Head Chair of the ECOSOC this year.

Over the three days, you can expect lively discussion, fruitful collaboration, and meaningful interaction with one of the most pressing issues of our time. As chairs, we hope to create a committee where your voices are heard, your ideas are challenged, and your perspectives are broadened.

I call upon all delegates to approach this conference not only with professionalism and readiness but also with openness and curiosity. CSIAMUN is not just a platform to replicate diplomacy, but a chance to grow as thinkers, orators, and world citizens.

I look forward to seeing how each of you contributes to the shaping of this committee, and I have every confidence that our discussions will be meaningful and unforgettable.

See you all soon!

DEPUTY CHAIR – Jiwon Choi

Greetings, delegates!

It is truly an honor and I am absolutely grateful to serve as your deputy chair of ECOSOC for this year’s CSIAMUN. My name is Jiwon Choi, a sophomore at CheongShim International Academy.

The delegates of ECOSOC will experience energetic debates, entertaining discussions, and harmonizing collaborations on two of the world’s most spotlighted social issues throughout the 3 days of the conference. As a deputy chair, my goal is to support both the head chair and delegates in creating a lively venue, where all the creative and innovative voices and ideas of the delegates can be heard and lead to fruitful conversations.

CSIAMUN invites all the remarkable global leaders from the world to not only improve their strengths as delegates but also to grow as in-depth thinkers. Thus, I hope the delegates see the conference as an ideal place for taking part in discussions where they can share their opinions and thoughts on global issues internationally, with the other delegates from all over the world.

I, as a deputy chair, am highly anticipating seeing the delegates contribute in their own ways to create constructive discussions and bring out astonishing resolutions.

See you all in January.
