Environment Assembly

Committee Intro

The United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) is the leading global environmental authority. UNEA’s mission is to inspire, inform, and enable nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.

For over 50 years, UNEA has worked with governments, civil society, the private sector, and UN entities to address humanity’s most pressing environmental challenges — from restoring the ozone layer to protecting the world’s seas and promoting a green, inclusive economy.

Agenda Intro

Agenda A: Protecting Arctic and Antarctic regions concerning the reduction of aerosol emission

The enduring effects of global warming are brutally destroying the environment. Specifically, the severity of global warming is shown in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Hence, it is critical to mitigate the melting process by reducing aerosol emissions. In case the meltdown of Arctic and Antarctic regions may largely affect climate and biosystems, massive aerosol—the particles that heat the atmosphere—emissions must be resolved.

Agenda B: Implementing measures to alleviate the rise in sea level for countries or islands in danger of floods or other natural disasters

As global warming exacerbates, carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gasses are emitted. They not only pollute the atmosphere, but they also heat the temperature. Despite other major consequences that might have been caused by the warming, the rising sea level is a type of problem that needs to be solved immediately. Considering the fact that the rise in sea level is taking away people’s homeland and even animals’ habitats, destroying the ecosystem, the solutions for this issue must be seeken deeply.

HEAD CHAIR – Jiwoo Kim

Greetings, delegates!

This is the head chair of UNEA, Jiwoo Kim. It is a great honor to serve as a head chair for this CSIAMUN XVII. The United Nations Environmental Assembly (UNEA) remains burdened by the responsibility to resolve environmental problems around the world. Therefore, the delegates may freely discuss and share their ideas and solutions about current environmental issues with great passion during the conference.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you, delegates. See you soon!

DEPUTY CHAIR – Sihyeon Lee

Welcome delegates!

I am thrilled to join you for CSIAMUN XVII! My name is Sihyun Lee, a rising junior at Cheongshim International Academy, and I have the honor of serving as the UNEA Deputy Chair for this conference. This will be my first experience as a Chair, and I must admit, I’m feeling a mix of excitement and nerves, just like some of you might be!

This may be your very first MUN experience for some of you, while for others, it might be one of many. Regardless, this is a time for you to share and express your ideas, not a place to be judged on how fluent your English is or how eloquently you speak. Remember, there are always MUN members here to support you, so don’t worry—just focus on making the most of these two days and enjoy the experience!

As part of the UNEA team, we are committed to ensuring that this MUN is an incredible and unforgettable experience for all of you. Let’s make these two days a memorable and rewarding time together!

Best of luck to everyone!
